A father-and-son transmission shop in Cutler Bay
Hi-Tech Transmissions is owned and run by Tomas 'Tom' Hernandez, who works the counter and the bench with his son. The shop at 10732 SW 190th St in Cutler Bay, Miami does one thing: automatic transmissions. Repairs, in-house rebuilds with Transtar kits, Dayco torque converters and computer diagnostics. No general repair, no franchise, no call center.

Diagnosed first, quoted upfront
The order of operations never changes. Fluid check, codes, road test, then a price for the actual fault before any work starts. Customers on Google and Yelp use the same words to describe it: honest, upfront, fair. One reviewer was quoted $1,800 sight-unseen by another shop; Tom met her in the lot and checked the fluid first.
Rebuilt in-house
Rebuilds are done on the bench in the shop, not shipped out. Soft parts come from Transtar rebuild kits, converters are Dayco, and hard parts are replaced only when they fail inspection. Reviewers report 3–4 day turnarounds.
Trucks, SUVs, work vans
Pickups and fleet vans are regular jobs. Reviewers have brought F-150s, Expeditions, Suburbans, Jeep Wranglers and commercial vans, and one rebuilt truck tows a 30-foot travel trailer.
